The Problem
Parents face challenges in establishing friendships with other parents and discovering common interests and sharing parent values, all while ensuring the safety of their children.
The Solution
To address these issues, we designed a comprehensive parent app that seamlessly connects parents, facilitates shared interests and values, and places a paramount focus on child safety, ultimately fostering genuine friendships and enriching the parenting experience.
Our Process
our UX process
Research
Our team began by conducting 9 interviews with parents of toddler aged children. We had an equal number of moms and dads (this group included mostly two-parent households and we ahd one single parent household. This provided us with exactly 200 interview notes that we sorted into 15 categories in our affinity diagram. We also added data from a google survey and received 25 responses. With this we were able to create a robust emapthy map as we got to know who our user persona is.

Our team compiled our research to create a detailed and relatable user persona of a single mother. This choice was driven by the belief that a single mother embodies the concerns and complexities of a dual-parent household, while her unique circumstances also make her more cautious when forging new friendships. By understanding her needs, aspirations, and challenges, we gained invaluable insights into the user journey.

Lessons Learned
Throughout this phase, our team not only compiled crucial research but also discovered the power of effective collaboration. We realized that by leveraging each team member's strengths and effective communication, we could enhance our project's quality and efficiency. This collaborative approach allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of our user persona's needs. We learned that consistently referencing back to our user research findings was critical in developing our key features. This practice ensured that our design decisions remained rooted in the real needs and pain points of our target audience. By prioritizing user research, we were able to make informed and user-centric design choices, ultimately leading to a more successful and impactful product.
Next Steps
Moving forward, our focus would be on continuous improvement and expanding the app's functionality to further address the needs of our users. Some features we explored include a babysitter matcher, and emergency quick-call feature, and a multi-sign-in method that uses Google, LinkedIn, and Facebook. These next steps align with our team's commitment to creating a comprehensive and user-focused parent app that not only helps parents build meaningful connections but also ensures their peace of mind and convenience.
